Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) UpdatesIn early October 2025, IRCC conducted multiple Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws with
Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador collectively issuing 3,991 invitations to apply for permanent residency. Out of those 3,991 invitations, Ontario issued 1,680 under employer job offer streams for foreign workers, international students, and in-demand skills. [1] In the latest Express Entry draw (#371) on October 6, 2025, 4,500 invitations were issued to candidates with French language proficiency, with a minimum CRS score of 432. [1]

In addition to the draws, IRCC announced priority permanent residency streams for 2025, focusing on Express Entry programs, Express-Entry aligned PNP streams, Quebec’s skilled worker pathway, and community pilots to be fully processed within the year. [1] In other news, IRCC has resumed biometric collection services in Sudan as of July 2025 and continues to implement regulatory changes to improve processing efficiency. [2] Also, the announcement of a new political proposal by the Conservative Party to end automatic birthright citizenship for children of temporary residents has stirred national debate on citizenship rights and inclusion.
