what we do

Temporary Residence

Canada offers a variety of programs that provide eligible individuals with the opportunity to reside in Canada on a temporary basis. Work permits, study permits, visitor visas, super visas and, (for visitor visa exempt passport holders), Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETA’s) are examples of relevant programs that provide successful applicants with the opportunity to reside in Canada on a temporary basis. The pertinent eligibility criteria vary in terms of each unique category of temporary residence in Canada. In order to determine whether there is a program that is commensurate with your personal circumstances, our lawyers assess your personal circumstances in the context of a professional, legal consultation to ascertain if there is a program that coheres with your personal circumstances.

Temporary Immigration in Canada

Thousands of people enter Canada each year who want to stay in the country on a temporary basis. You may wish to become a temporary resident of Canada for a number of reasons, including to study at a Canadian educational institution, to offset the skill scarcity in various Canadian industries, or just to visit and enjoy this beautiful country. Chaudhary Law Services can provide essential assistance when you are putting together your application for temporary residence.

In Canada, temporary residence status refers to individuals who come to the country for a set period of time to study, work, or visit:

A work permit gives you permission to enter Canada for a job. While certain exceptions exist, in most cases foreign workers need a work permit to be eligible to work in Canada. A work permit allows qualified workers, including business owners, students, and other temporary workers, to seek legal residence in Canada for the purpose of employment.

A study permit is a type of Temporary Resident status. This permit allows you to study in Canada for a temporary period of time exceeding six months. A study permit will usually indicate the educational institution you are attending as well as your course of study. You must meet certain requirements to qualify for a study permit in Canada

You may also need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) if you are not from an ETA-approved country and you would like to visit family or friends, enter Canada for business, or travel via Canada on your way to a permanent destination. A visitor visa shows that you meet the requirements for admission to Canada.

How We Can Help

While citizens of Canada can enter the country freely, others may need a Temporary Resident Visa, or TRV, to enter Canada. A TRV is an official document that a Canadian visa office issues. This document is affixed to your passport to demonstrate that you meet Canada’s admission requirements, either as a student, worker, or visitor.
